  • According to the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, residents of Ames, IA have the lowest rate of headaches; residents of Casper, WY are the happiest; people who live in Boulder, CO exercise most frequently; and Santa Fe, NM residents are the healthiest eaters.   • Where are the most congested cities?  According to the National Traffic Scorecard released by INRIX, these cities account for more than half of all U.S. traffic bottlenecks: 1) Los Angeles 2) New York 3) Chicago 4) Washington, D.C. 5) Dallas 6) San Francisco 7) Houston 8) Boston 9) Philadelphia 10) Seattle.

  • According to Forbes magazine, the top U.S. zipcodes with the most expensive home prices are: 91008 (Duarte, CA) - Median Home Price = $4.2 million; 94027 (Alberton, CA) - Median Home Price = $4.0 million; 90274 (Rolling Hills, CA) - Median Home Price = $3.89 million; 07620 (Alpine, N.J.) - Median Home Price = $3.8 million; 10014 (New York, NY) - Median Home Price = 3.7 million; 90210 (Beverly Hills, CA) - Median Home Price = $3.6 million
  • Comparing wages across the U.S.:  According to the U.S. Labor Department, those working in the San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland, CA metro area were the best paid.  They earned 20% more than the average American worker last year.  Workers in the Brownsville-Harlingen, TX, metro area were the worst paid, bringing home 20% less than the average employee nationwide.  Also low on the list was Ocala, FL and Lincoln, NB.
  • Where are workers getting a good deal?  According to the Council for Community and Economic Research, St. Louis, MO breadwinnres take home about the same pay as the U.S. average, but their cost of living is more than 9% cheaper.  And one of the worst-paid cities relative to its cost is Honolulu, Hawaii, where workers only made 5% more than the mean but shell out nearly 68% extra in living expenses.
  • What's the best way to get something done at work? Do it on a Tuesday. More than half of executives polled by Robert Half International said employees hit their peak performance on Tuesdays. (Source: www.rhi.com)
  • Microsoft recently asked 1,200 hiring and recruitment managers what kinds of sites they considered in researching applicants online. The top sites they reported to use were: Search Engines (78%); Social networking sites (63%); Photo and video sharing sites (59%); Professional and business networking sites (57%); Personal Web Sites (48%); News sharing sites (Twitter, etc.) (41%). Only 2% said they did not use any online sites to research candidates.
  • How important is it to send a thank-you note after your interview?  According to USA Today Snapshot, 88% of senior executives say that sending a thank-you note after an interview boosts a job seekers chances.
